Pearl Monda

Gopal Pal's Manda. The name of the wonderful sweet made by the baby. Gopal Pal is the progenitor 
of this Manda Sushti. About two hundred years ago, in 1231 Bengali 1824 English year, Gopal Pal
 was the first to make Manda. Monda made by Gopal Pal was first tasted by Suryakanta Acharya 
Chowdhury, the then zamindar of Muktagachha, and was much appreciated. The full name of Gopal 
Pal, the father of Muktagachha Monda, is Ram Gopal Pal. He was born in Bengali 1206 and English
 1899 AD. Gopal Pal's original home was Murshidabad.
 
After the fall of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah, the people of the capital Murshidabad moved to different
 places. Gopal Pal's father Ram Ram Pal fled in fear and settled in Rajshahi in present day Bangladesh
 through Malda. From there, Muktagachha Tarati started living in the village anew. There is some 
so-called history behind the creation of Monda. Ramendra Nath Pal wrote in his book "Manda Alekhya",
 "Gopal Pal often saw a saint in a dream. 
In the dream, the saint would teach him the rules of making manda. Almost at night, the saint would 
tell some rules for making manda. Last night Monda taught Pak the last rule and said, “You will gain
 a lot of fame for this Monda. Your mandar fame will spread all over the world.
 
At various times, cultural events and political discussions were held at the Muktagachha zamindar's
 house in Mymensingh from India. The zamindars used to entertain them with manda. Maharaja Suryakanta
 was a blind devotee of Monda. His son Shashikanta also loved Monda very much.
Stalin, the famous leader of Russia, had a very good relationship with King Shashikant. He sent Stalin
 Monda, the best sweet pearl in Bangladesh. Stalin was very impressed with Monda. Another fan of Monder
 was former Pakistani President Ayub Khan. The governor of East Bengal occasionally sent him monda.
 He used to call Manda "East Pakistani Mewa."
